Dali, Crucifixion (Corpus Hypercubus)
Title

Dali, Crucifixion (Corpus Hypercubus)

Caption

Salvador Dali. Spanish, 1904-1989. Crucifixion (Corpus Hypercubus), 1954. Oil on canvas. Dali fused his interests in Catholicism, mathematics and science to create this new interpretation of an oft-depicted subject. Levitating before a hypercube - a geometric, multi-dimentional form - Christ has an almost athletic physique that bears no signs of torture. The artists wife, Gala, poses as a devotional figure, witnessing Christ's spiritual triumph over corporeal harm.
