Map of the war of Independence and the invasion. (From Baragua up to Mantua). The invading column supervised by General Antonio Maceo left the Savanna of Aragua on October 22, 1895; on November 29 he had a meeting with Maximo Gomez. Maceo arrived at Mantua on January 22nd, 1896, exactly three months after he left the East.
