Edward Burne-Jones at work on the Star of Bethlehem, 1895. Burne-Jones (1833-1898) painting 'The Star of Bethlehem' in the Garden Studio of his house, The Grange, North End Lane, Fulham. One of the second wave of Pre-Raphaelite painters and initially much influenced by William Morris and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Burne-Jones gave up his plans to enter the priesthood to become a painter in the late 1850s. Photograph by Barbara Sotheby, printed by Frederick Hollyer. The work is in the collection of the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
